![]() ![]() When they produced the dubs for the first 3 Dragon Ball Z movies they were only produced uncut with the original Japanese music (i.e they didn’t create edited versions with the Saban music ). To date the edited dub of the movies are the only time, that I know of, that Pioneer did anything like that. Did Cloverway decide they wanted to handle S and SuperS seasons themselves but decided to let Pioneer do the movies? (Handle in this case means let Optimum do whatever they want as long as the episodes are ready to go when Cartoon Network needs them)Ĭlick to expand.I never thought about that but this is highly likely. And Pioneer ended up handling the home video distribution for those seasons so it wasn’t a lack of interest. The dub would have likely turned out exactly the same but it is weird they grabbed the movies but not S and SuperS and Cloverway had to end up producing those seasons. I’m actually curious why Pioneer didn’t license the S and SuperS series as well. When Pioneer licensed the movies around 1999 Griffin was available again and got the role back. Barlow was cast as Raye for those last 17 episodes because DiC needed those episodes dubbed and ready to go for YTV in the fall of 97 and Katie Griffin wasn’t available. Optimum Productions didn’t seem to have any say on what gets dubbed and when it gets dubbed they were simply responsible for dubbing the show for whichever company was currently involved with the franchise. The movies were dubbed two years after the “lost episode” They were also licensed separately by Pioneer. ![]()
